5/26/2025 - Memorial Day 2025
Memorial Day 2025 was one of the final shoot dates for our film. The morning began at 5:30am, as WDIV provided coverage in Plymouth, interviewing producer/director, Mark Salloum who shared a quick background on the film and the high school students who will be participating in the parade later this morning. At 6:30am, teacher Chris Belch and student Jack Ha were interviewed together, providing their thoughts on the importance of honoring our WWII veterans.
By 8:00am, the sun was shining and we had an incredibly beautiful morning on hand. Our film crew was ready to roll, and the parade committee was organizing all the participants with producer, Keith Famie. Students arrived and put on their new t-shirts with the film logo and a picture of the veteran whom they have been following since early April. They were eager to march in the parade with these photographs, honoring these heroes from the past. Beyond the students, we had three WWII vehicles on hand to process behind our students, as well as honoree Donald Vaughn who served in the army during WWII. We of course had the privilege of interviewing him back in 2022.
At 9:00am, the streets were lined up with hundreds of people to watch the parade, including a section with children of our WWII veterans. They were here to witness and share in the joy of seeing their fathers honored by the students. We had 4 cameras all over the streets capturing the moments, and a drone overhead which captured some unique aerial footage of the event.
By 9:30, the crowds gathered at Veteran's Memorial Park in Plymouth to attend the annual ceremony which honors our fallen heroes. During this event, Mark Salloum was the guest speaker who shared a brief history about the film project and his experience with the veterans. The students were lined up behind the guests of honor at the event, and held high the images of our WWII veterans. It was truly a day to remember our WWII generation...Let Us Not Forget!
