The Home Stretch

With the addition of Keith Famie as co-producer, new concepts were developed to include additional characters within our film. In particular, we decided to interview several children of our WWII veterans to share their perspective of each father’s journey. Thus, on two snowy and cold days in February, we interviewed 9 children of our veterans at the historic Penn Theatre in Plymouth. We were not only inspired by what they shared, but blown away! The tears and emotional connection which they experienced with their fathers was the perfect way to add another layer to the film. At the end of the interviews, we gathered 35 family members together on stage with pictures of their fathers and asked them to share stories about their fathers. Without realizing the extent of how powerful this would be, filming this was one of the most moving experiences of our entire production.

One of our veteran interviewees, Donald Vaughn, turned 100 years young on Valentine’s Day. Thus, we thought it would be a great idea to join the party and capture the emotions of the day with his family and friends. People came from all over the country to celebrate this man’s legacy, and we were enamored with the love on display. Don is one of the last surviving veterans whom we interviewed. We wish you well, Don as you move into your second century of life!
