Montford Point Marines
August 25, 2022
We flew to Jacksonville, North Carolina where we encountered the Montford Point Marines…our country’s first African-American marines prior to them serving in the Marine Corps. They held a beautiful tribute to those who served in this branch. Unfortunately the morning was as steamy as a bowl of soup, causing a little chaos with our cameras and lenses, but we were able to capture some great footage at the event, followed by three interviews at a local hotel with men who served in the Montford Point Marines. Their stories were heroic in both their contribution to the war, as well as dealing with the issues of racial tension upon coming home.
